2013: Year of the SLAH


2013 is a year of change for me.  I want to set some Adventure Goals for the year and I want to involved all of you because this is the starting point of our new group:

THLETIC, and HEALTHY! 

Some GOALS I've thought of that I would love to share with you all:
  • Do a Triathlon:
    • Sunday, May 19, 2013 -  Athleta Iron Girl Atlanta Women’s Triathlon - 440 Yard Swim, 19 Mile Bike, 3 Mile Run
    • Saturday, June 08, 2013 -  My First/Next Triathlon - 440 Yard Swim, 12 Mile Bike, 3 Mile Run
      • Where:  Lake Lanier Islands Resort
      • Cost:  $91

      • This race is specially for beginners.  There are two races on Saturday, one for beginners and one for returning racers.
    • Sunday July 21st, 2013 - Escape to Blue Ridge Triathlon - 600 Yard Swim, 18 Mile Bike, 3.11 Mile Run
      • Where:  Lake Blue Ridge Marina 335 Marina Dr. Blue Ridge GA 30513

      • Cost: $97.00 until 7/7/13; $117.00 after 7/7/13
      • Comments:  This event will be fun; ending in the City of Blue Ridge with live music and food; a celebration!  And we could rent a cabin in the mtns!  Stay Fri/Sat-Sun
  • Do some Road Races
    • Saturday March 2, 2013 - Chattahoochee Road Runners 5K (3.1 Miles)  & 10K (6.2 Miles)
      • Where: former Target store on Johnson Ferry Road just west of Roswell Road in Sandy Springs

      • Cost: $25 thru Jan. 31, $30 thru Feb. 28. $35 on March 1 and 2
      • Comments:  This will sell out, this is a fast and fun course.  Also a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race if you are interested.
    • Sunday March 12, 2012 - Publix Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
      • Where:  Downtown Atlanta
    • Saturday April 20th - Dirty Spokes - Runnin the Rocks - 5K/10K
      • Where: Georgia International Horse Park, Conyers, Georgia

    • Saturday October 12, 2013 - XTERRA Georgia Fort Yargo State Park Trail Run - 8.55 or 3.45 Miles
      • Where: Fort Yargo State Park
      • Cost:  8.55 Miles Through 10/22 $30; October 23 - November 1 $35 (LATE); Race Day Registration -> $40
        • 3.45 Miles;  $35; $45; $45
      • This is a practice for the Xterra Triathlon Trail Run Course
  • Backpack Overnight on the Appalachian Trail or Smokey Mountains
  • Take some Wilderness, Backpacking, or First Aid Classes from REI
  • Another Ski/Snowboard Trip - Late Feb or March??
  • Get Routine with Yoga on a regular basis. 
  • Dedicate 6-10 hours per week to fitness.  I need to go to LA Fitness on a more regular basis. (Like 3-4 days a week) This would make such a huge impact on my fitness!!!

Brittany's Goals for 2013:
  • Complete the Half Marathon under 2:45
  • Complete 3-4 Triathlons (2 summer, 1 fall)
  • Complete 1-2 Trail Runs (end of summer and into fall)
  • Ramp up on Mtn Biking for Fall 2013, then complete in off road duatlon & Xterra Triathlon in 2014
Brittany's Races for 2013:
  • 3.12.13 - Half Marathon
  • 5.19.13 - Iron Girl Triathlon
  • 7.21.13 - Escape to Blue Ridge
  • 10.12.13 - XTERRA Georgia Fort Yargo State Park Trail Run

Phew, that was A LOT!  Don't be overwhelmed, these are all just ideas, plans, and motivation!  Not all of this is obtainable!!!
