Atlanta Union Mission 5K

Saturday, we join Lauren for a 5k to benefit Homelessness in Atlanta.  The route was decent and we were lucky to bring Nismo on for the fun!

We arrived at the event site around 7:45am.  Race started around 8:45am, it was a very cold morning, just below or at 40 degrees.  I was prepared in layers and was ready to get moving to stay warm.

The race started up a long uphill on Centennial Olympic Park Dr heading from the Atlanta Union Mission towards CNN Center.  It was greuling and Nismo was pulling because he was anxious to get moving in the crowd.  The sectioned iff only one lane for the race.  We took a right on Marietta St and started heading toward Tech Pkwy, then to Luckie Street, ending at Ivan Allan Blvd.

It was a good course and we had a nice pace, 11:04 min mile, even with the Doggie!

Finish Time: 34:06

Tuesday Night

My knee regressed a little after my brick workout last night.  I woke up and my knee felt very stiff.  I iced it all day and decided the best course was to rest it for the evening.

Got some great news today, Mike got the job he had been pushing for!!  We met up with all our friends to celebrate.  Below is Mike with Kyp after chugging some car bombs.  We love to have fun!

Tomorrow is my Cross Training Day.  I'm going to try and take it easy and stay off my knee as much as possible.

I just registered for the Iron Girl Atlanta Triathlon!  I've done this race before and I look forward to doing it again!  YAYAY!  It was a great experience in 2007, as Michellie Jones raced as well and I got my picture with her!  She is truly an inspiration.

Brick - Swim / Bike

My first Brick of the Year.  Mondays will be my Brick day.

Getting to the gym after work was a big fail.  There was not a single parking spot when I before 6pm.  I had also neglected to bring my towel, damn!  So, I drove home only to come back about 30 minutes later, and I found a parking spot!

I weighed myself in today: 132
There are definetly some pounds I'd be happy to shed this year.  Ideally, I like to be around 115-120.

I headed into the pool, there was no one in the water, so I started my laps.  I swam for 12 minutes.  I wish I could find my watch, because I had to stop and check the clock a couple of times.  Especially towards the end.  I focused on breathing, my stroke, and consistency.  My body felt good and my stroke was ok considering I have not been swimming since my last race in September!

I transitioned to the bike.  First I started on the upright bike.  I do like this one the most because it is most like riding my road bike, but the super wide seat is very uncomfortable for my petite frame!  After about 8 minutes, I couldn't handle it anymore and switched to the relaxed seat bike.  This was ok, but I was pushing pretty hard and making it shake a bit!  LOL, pretty funny I imagine.  I felt a little odd with wet hair riding a stationary bike like a mad woman!  I finished up my 24 minute goal, and headed home to see my Hubby.

Workout Log:

12 minute swim - 12 laps
24 minute stationary bike; Level 4, random - ~ 9 miles

Happy Monday!!

The weekend went by way too fast!  I was able to get in a quick ride on Saturday am, around the neighborhood.  I just wanted to stretch out my knee and get some cardio in.

I went to a short 6 mile spin keeping to mostly flat terrain.  I wanted to keep it short because I had a full weekend of rental house work ahead of me.

Afterwards, my knee felt much better!  It really helped and I noticed a difference Sunday morning.  After painting all day at the rental house Sunday, this morning my knee is much stiffer.  I look forward to hitting the pool this evening to get it loose again!

Hopefully I can start running next week!
